Secrets, friendship, and magic all come together as Lelek gets closer and closer to uncovering the truth about her past. But Lelek is hiding something - and as her life begins to intersect with Sanja’s, all that she’s kept to herself starts to come to light. I thought with the cover it would be, but in the end, I was not a big fan. That’s all Sanja knows when she meets Lelek in the marketplace. The drawing style (organic I guess) was not my favorite at all. The pace first was strange, things happening a bit fast, and it was like we were cut from the thought process of the characters and so, I could not fully connect with what was happening. You will tell me, all of that sounds super good? Well yes, BUT, I was still a bit disappointed by this novel. For Lelek, it took her longer to give her trust to Sanja, but through the pages, we can see the love between them grow, as they face danger together! Of course, they have a quest, related to Lelek complicated and violent past! I think Sanja was quickly intrigued by Lelek and her life, and this curiosity turned into love and care quite quickly (even if she was kind of abducted at the beginning lol). They meet by accident, and find themselves running away, and slowly earning each other’s trust! They then start traveling, stopping at villages to do witch fight ( which is quite the paying spectacle apparently!). In this graphic novel, we follow Lelek, a young witch who lost everything and survive by selling charms and stealing, and Sanja, a young woman struggling to find her place between her brothers and fathers and the life women are supposed to have. The witch, the swordswoman and the candle That’s all Sanja knows when she meets Lelek in the marketplace.
